Kacy Stuart is cleared to kick on football team!

Awhile back, I wrote about how Kacy Staurt, a 13-year-old field goal kicker got booted from her team, Georgia’s New Creation Center Crusaders, for being a girl.
Since then, Kacy’s mom has been fighting to try and allow her to play (she even commented on my blog – see link above).
Well, the story has caught major national attention (it even made ESPN) and it seems the publicity has worked!
Well, I just read that she’s cleared to play! So exciting!
Hank St. Denis, the head of the authority governing Georgia High School football, would not discuss the case, simply saying, “She’s playing, isn’t she?”
Apparently, this story is deeper than I thought.
SportingNews.com said that when the East Atlanta Mustangs played the Crusaders, they sent them a statement prior to the game about the religious implications of having a female kicker:
“The East Atlanta Mustangs didn’t play us under protest but they were allowed to read a statement on their beliefs about female football players,” [New Creation coach Ken] Townley said. “They used biblical verses from the book of Romans. I was very stunned by that.”
WHAT! hahahaha! First of all, Kacy is a kicker. Not a linebacker. Second, even if she was a linebacker, this makes them look nothing but scared.
Citing the bible? Are they kidding? Hilarious!
For the record, Stuart converted three extra points in her game against the East Atlanta Crusaders in a 39-8 victory.
YESSSS! GO KACY!

Yay! That is so awesome!
In other news, women can’t stand when girls have to live under the same rules as boys.
Just remember, you’re making discrimination acceptable.
Tell your daughters to suck it up whenever anyone treats the differently because they are girls. I’m not saying it’s right, I’m saying it’s deserved.
Actually, Aaron, “treating them differently” IS discrimination.
They have a right to play. And they have a right not to be treated any differently. Your comments are illogical.
Really, what happens if a boy wants to play on a girls team?
Giving her the option to play on any team she wants while not giving the boys that right is discrimination.
The boy is rediculed because he can’t play with the guys. Let’s be realistic.
Girls playing with guys = PLAYING UP
Boys playing with girls = PLAYING DOWN
Granted, that’s not always the case, but that’s the reality of many situations. Giving girls the opportunity to play “up” is a great thing.
Let’s be realistic, it’s a lot of excuses to explain your sexism
Oh, then we can mock Kacy for playing against the middle school boys? Biologically speaking, girls are bigger than boys from 6th grade until 8th grade and then equal size freshman year.
But wait, boys aren’t allowed to play on girls teams even when they’re smaller. A SEVENTH grade boy is playing up when he plays seventh grade girls. On top of that, he isn’t even allowed to play varsity girls sports. That would be playing up, would it not?
And, can’t play with the guys? What about sports that there are no boys teams for? Things like field hockey, crew, etc. In Missouri, girls’ lacrosse is sanctioned, but boys aren’t allowed to be because of discrimination. It’s not a matter of not being able to play with the guys, it’s that the discrimination you push won’t let guys play.
And I wonder if you would’ve told those first girls to play sports to be realistic, they’d be ridiculed? Granted, not all of those girls were made ridiculed, but that was the reality in many situations. Giving boys the opportunity to play AT ALL is a great thing
But that would mean giving boys and girls equal opportunity
Dang, sorry – you’re a woman, let’s be realistic you’re just selfish and can’t understand math terms like equality.. well or science, or logic for that matter
(Hey, if you get to play the stereotype and discrimination game, shouldn’t I start also? I’d like to say it’s fun, but really I feel completely ignorant. I don’t know how you do it.)
Just another point, boys don’t like playing down, but they’d rather play down than not at all.
Think about it, is a boy playing down any worse than a girl wrestling a boy when the boy doesn’t want to? In fact, I’d say that sexual harassment is worse than just being beat by a boy (even as by your logic – a senior girl gets the crap beat out of her by a seventh grade boy because boys are SOO much better than any girls)
I keep trying to read this without laughing out loud but it’s just not working.
Lay off the drugs, it would help so much
Well, maybe not – you seem to lack any higher level thinking processes as it is – so have fun with it
@ Aaron
I was reading this interesting story, then reading the comments. I am confused by ALL of your rambling comments.
Just type if you’re pro-women’s sports, pro-co-ed sports, or are you anti-women’s & co-ed sports?
“Tell your daughters to suck it up whenever anyone treats the differently because they are girls. I’m not saying it’s right, I’m saying it’s deserved.”
* No discrimination is “DESERVED”, Aaron. *
“Lay-off the drugs” …ffs?
I’m for equal rights first and foremost. I want girls to have the same rights and support to play sports, but (and this is where I have a problem with the feminists) not carte blanch to control the rules in athletics and education. I’m actually pro women’s sports. I just find it hard to believe they complain about when they play (MI, NY, NV) or that they their concession stands aren’t as good as the ones the boys built for themselves – when many boys aren’t even allowed to play sports.
As for the being deserved, it’s because they set up the rules making it acceptable to discriminate. They can’t claim it’s ok to discriminate against the boys but then whine it happens to their daughters. What’s good for the gander is good for the goose, no?
The fact is, she keeps writing how bad discrimination is and that we shouldn’t stereotype, but then turns around and gives reasons as to why it’s acceptable to do both.
All I’m doing is pointing out the facts and the hypocrisy of her sexism
I just want to be clear, discrimination isn’t right. I would not operate under stereotypes or remove rights because of an individual’s gender as these women do.
These women can’t expect to hide behind equal rights when they spend all this time advocating for discrimination. They deserve to be treated as they treat others – and yes for that segment of the population that would include discrimination.
Now, for people – especially the girls and their mothers- who believe in equal rights, then discrimination is wholly undeserved and amoral.
Aaron—
She’s laughing because they know theyre sexist. You dont need to spend all of your time explaining it to them!! They LIKE it when girls get their way and boys get nothing!!
Snerdy —
Why did you attach Aaron for saying discrimination is deserved when the whole discussions was them saying girls deserve to be treated better than boys??? He was the one from the beginning saying discrimination wasn’t right!! Why didn’t you call them out for that if you really read all of that?
Sometimes you believe in the inherant goodness in people. That sometimes if you use evidence, facts, and logic, that they’ll realize they’re level of their ignorance.
